Phoebe Hutchason is a media composer based in Chichester, UK, specialising in creating dynamic and evocative music for television, film, and production libraries. With a rich musical foundation and a keen ear for storytelling through sound, Phoebe’s work has gathered both national and international acclaim.
In 2022, Phoebe earned a coveted spot on the 100% Her Composer Mentorship Scheme with Universal Production Music UK. During the six-month program, she was mentored by Dave Connolly of Molecular Sound, crafting compositions for esteemed labels such as Chappell, Atmosphere, and Bruton. Upon completing the mentorship in early 2023, Phoebe secured her place on Universal's main composer roster.
Her compositions have seen widespread success, with sync placements across leading broadcasters including ITV, Channel 4, BBC 1 & 2, SKY Sports, PBS and NBC. Notable credits include Eurovision, Springwatch, Sky Sports Premier League Stories, Celebs Go Dating, and The Repair Shop. Phoebe’s ability to deliver versatile, high-quality music has made her a sought-after talent in the industry.
Beyond her work in production music, Phoebe is passionate about scoring films.
In 2024, she composed the score for the Regency short Until Today, which was nominated for Best British Short at the BAFTA-qualifying Iris Prize Film Festival. The film is now streaming on Channel 4 for a year. Phoebe also composed her first short feature, directed by Vivian Guarnieri, which was officially selected for the Salerno and Rome: Vision film festivals. She continues to collaborate with Vivian, currently scoring an upcoming short film.
Phoebe holds an MA in Professional Media Composition from Thinkspace Education (2021) and a BA in Creative Music Technology from the University of Hull (2019). A jazz trained multi-instrumentalist with a specialisation in jazz piano, Phoebe has been honing her craft since the age of five.
Her creativity extends beyond composing for screen. Phoebe enjoys collaborating with artists and musicians to co-write and produce original music. She is currently producing four eleven-track albums for a local musician and is one half of the duo Swebe, which recently debuted its first EP, We Ride.Driven by her passion for music and storytelling, Phoebe continues to push creative boundaries, contributing fresh and impactful compositions to a variety of mediums. As well as that, she also performs and writes the original material in the 8-piece jazz funk band, Irrelevant Elephant.
